Pigs in a blanket are a beloved nostalgic classic for many, including me! So let’s make this higher in protein and quick version that are perfect for parties, holiday appetizers, watching a sports game, or just for you 😉

I usually make this recipe with sourdough starter (and you can still include it!) but wanted to try it with the super simple Greek yogurt dough, and it was perfect. This recipe is a HUGE crowd pleaser, so definitely make increase the serving size of this recipe and share it!

Ingredients and Benefits:

Einkorn flour: Contains low levels, free of glyphosate, higher in protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber

Greek yogurt: I purchase pasture-raised and grass-fed when I can for higher levels of omega 3s. Greek yogurt is high in protein, probiotics, and calcium

Sourdough discard: Optional, contains lactic acid to predigest the starch in grains, lowers the glycemic index, and helps the body absorb nutrients better

Grass-fed hot dogs: Lower in fat and calories compared to grain-fed, higher omega-3s, more antioxidants, and better for the environment!

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

  2. Combine dough flour, yogurt, salt and mix until ball forms. Add more flour if needed
  3. You can store this in fridge if needed or use right away, I like to store mine since I use sourdough discard so it can ferment
  4. Roll into a circle and cut into equal strips for the amount of hot dogs you have
  5. Wrap each hot dog and cut into bit sized pieces
  6. Place pigs in blanket on prepared pan and bake for about 15 minutes, until dough is baked and golden
  7. Enjoy and serve with ketchup!
