It is honestly so gorgeous (I mean look at that color), making it the perfect holiday side to wow everyone. We’re making this for Thanksgiving this year because it pairs so well scooped up with turkey and potatoes
This recipe is great for gut health as well since it is rich in fiber, antioxidants, many vitamins, and contains bone broth. So definitely give this one a try, you will fall in love as well!!
Ingredients and Benefits:
Purple cabbage: Rich in anthocyanins that lower blood pressure and decrease heart attack risk
Red onion: Rich in antioxidants, anthocyanins, fiber, vitamins, and quercetin for heart health, metabolism benefits, and anti-inflammatory effects
Bay leaves: Have digestive, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. They are a good source of vitamin A, B6, C, calcium, and iron as well
Cloves: Contain hydro-alcoholic compounds to help increase bone density and minerals. They are also rich in antioxidants that may help prevent cancer
Apples: Rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamin C and E, and polyphenols for heathy digestion, brain health, and satiation

Vibrant Red Braised Cabbage (Perfect Holiday Side)
This red braised cabbage recipe is so full of flavor and compliments a grilled or roasted meat very well! Whether you want a delicious side for a regular day or want to impress your guests, this is the perfect dish to try.

Dice 1/2 onion, save other half, and cut slits in it to insert bay leaves and cloves

Peel and dice 1 large red apple

Add tablespoons of butter or favorite fat to deep pan

Sauté apples and onion until they turn clear. Add vinegar and stir

Add shredded cabbage, stir on high heat for about 3 minutes.

-Lower heat to med-low and add 1/2 onion with bay leaves/cloves and broth

Cover and cook for 30-45 min

Remove lid, take out 1/2 onion

Add 1 tablespoon of jelly and stir
-
If very liquidy- mix together 1 teaspoon of tapioca starch with 2 tbsp water then add into cabbage, stir until thickened into sauce

Serve with your favorite meat, it tastes so good together!
